We are interested in finding answers to the question of the next Dalai Lama possibly being a female. The current Dalai Lama has recently brought up the idea of a female being his successor and we want to address this idea. We will find others as well as the Dalai Lama's point of view on why they see this as a possibility or believe it is not. In our search for these perspectives we want to incorporate the views of fwomen in the Buddhist context because we feel that how females are viewed in this religion is an important aspect of how one might conclude if they could be a religious leader or not.
